Hello everybody!

I’ve been working a lot (REALLY A LOT!)… but I have a lot of really nice things to share with you!

The first one is that on the last week I participated on a Webinar organised from fhios London about Mobile UX. It was very interesting and later one I’ll put here the file to download and the link to the presentation with audio. I’m just waiting the email from them with the details.

The second one is even more special and nice! This week I’ll be presenting in the WIF Italy - DUE.1. It will be on Thursday, in Milan.

I’ll join the conference about Interaction Design and the title of my presentation is

Agile Interaction Design
The interaction among research, IA and usability in the development of the user experience

Eu tenho trabalhado muito (REALMENTE MUITO)… mas tenho várias coisas legais para contar para vocês!

some of you already know that one of the biggest moments of my personal and professional live was when I moved to Rio de Janeiro, in 2003. And one of the main reason for this was my first AI course, in Rio, with Bruno Rodrigues.

That’s why I’m very proud to help to spear the news of the first online edition of this same course. From October, even people that doesn’t live in Rio will be able to join: thanks to internet!

The course “Webwriting & Information Architecture” starts on Oct 1st and it’ll be six Thursdays, from 7 to 21.30pm. If you want to have more info, visit the Facha’s EAD website (in Portuguese): www.ead.facha.edu.br.

Oi pessoal,

Alguns de vocês já sabem que um dos grandes marcos da minha vida pessoal e profissional foi a minha mudança para o Rio de Janeiro em 2003. E um dos grandes motivos para esta decisão foi o primeiro curso de AI que fiz, no Rio, com o Bruno Rodrigues.

Por isso, é com grande orgulho que eu ajudo a divulgar a primeira edição a distancia deste mesmo curso. A partir de outubro, mesmo quem não mora no Rio poderá participar: e viva a internet!

Hi all,

finally I’m back! After a month at home due to my broken hand and without using my computer, I have a lot of news to share here!

The first one is that I’m going to Brazil!!! Hooray! I’m already counting the days and I want to make the most of my time. Maybe we should organise some meetings, what do you think?

Another very cool news is that I’ll participate in the Brazilian IA Congress - Ebai with a lecture about Gesture Interfaces. I’ll present a project that we’re doing in partnership with the IUP - International Usability Partners with the objective of studying which are the natural gestures performed by the users in mobile devices with touchscreen. I’m very happy with the opportunity to share some of the experience that I’m having here in Italy… this is great! I want to see

Oi pessoal,

finalmente estou de volta! Depois de um mês em casa por causa da mão quebrada e sem poder usar o computador, estou cheia de novidades para compartilhar por aqui!

A primeira delas é que no mês que vem estarei no Brasil!!! Ebaaaa! Já estou na contagem regressiva! Quero tentar aproveitar ao máximo os meus dias e, claro, agitar alguns encontros, o que vocês acham?

Outra novidade muito legal é que vou participar do Ebai, com uma palestra sobre Gesture Interfaces. Vou apresentar um projeto que estamos desenvolvendo em parceria com a IUP - International Usability Partners com o objetivo de estudar quais são os gestos mais naturais realizados pelos usuários ao utilizar um dispositivo móvel touchscreen. Estou muito feliz com a

Yesterday I visited for the first time an AMAZING site: you have fun, learn things and the better thing, you help people!

Free rice (www.freerice.com) is a web vocabulary founded in 2007. For each answer you get right, 10 grains of rice is donated through the UN World Food Program to help end hunger. You can choose the subjects (like art, chemistry, geography, language learning, match).

I’ve tried “English”, “Italian”, “French” and “Geography”… it’s very interesting… I highly recommend you to access, play, help people and send the link for your friends, relatives, colleagues!

I really hope you like it… let me know! I like it a lot (you can see, right?!? :P)… and it makes me think that we can really make the difference and help people in projects like that… That’s the real “user experience” for me!

Ontem eu visitei pela primeira vez um site INCRÍVEL: você se diverte, aprende coisas e o melhor de tudo, você ajuda pessoas!

Free rice (www.freerice.com) é um web vocabulário lançado em 2007. Para cada resposta correta, 10 grãos de arroz são donados através do Programa Mundial de Alimentação das Nações Unidas (UN World Food Program) para ajudar a acabar com a fome (o jogo é em inglês). Você pode escolher os assuntos (como arte, química, geografia, idiomas, matemática).

Eu tentei com o inglês, italiano, francês e geografia… é muito interessante! Eu recomendo muiiiito: acessem, joguem, ajudem as pessoas e enviem o link para amigos, parentes, colegas!

Espero que vocês gostem… me digam depois! Eu gostei muito (dá pra ver, né?!? :P)… e isso me faz pensar que a gente pode realmente fazer a diferença e ajudar as pessoas em projetos como este… Esta é a verdadeira “user experience” para mim!

After reading the Russell Wilson’s last post, I started to think about the user experience design and what was my role in this “mission”. What is the user experience design to me? Why do I want to work with this? And so on…

So, I decided to share this reflection with all of you:
What about you? What is user experience design to you? Try to write it down, in 20 words or less, in any language you like… being aware that there is no right or wrong answer.

And here is my shot: “It is about understand people, aiming to improve their lifes starting from the small things.”

Em 20 palavras ou menos, o que é “design da experiência do usuário” para você?

Depois de ler o último post do Russell Wilson, eu comecei a pensar sobre o design da experiência do usuário e qual era o meu papel nesta “missão”. O que é o design da experiência do usuário? Por que eu quero trabalhar com isso? E por aí vai…

Então, decidi compartilhar essa reflexão com vocês:
E pra você, o que é o design da experiência do usuário? Tente escrever, em 20 palavras ou menos, em qualquer língua que você quiser… consciente de que não existem respostas certas ou erradas.

E aqui fica o meu palpite: “Diz respeito a entender as pessoas, com o objetivo de melhorar suas vidas, começando com as pequenas coisas.”
